Medical Podcasts

Podcasts are a great way to stay up-to-date on new developments, hear from experts on interesting topics, or simply to be entertained. They are particularly convenient for listening to while commuting, exercising or completing chores. We’ve listed some anaesthesia podcasts relevant for studying/CME on our Resources page, so this page is just for other more general medical podcasts that are likely to be of interest to all doctors and health practitioners.

If you have your own suggestions, then please comment below or let us know and we might add them to the list!

Taking Care (AHPRA)

The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency hosts conversations and interviews with people in our community. We discuss current issues, address myths and common questions, and think about what we can do to best protect the public and support the safe delivery of healthcare in Australia.

I particularly liked their episode on patient safety and cosmetic surgery.

Dr Death (Wondery)

We’re at our most vulnerable when we go to our doctors. We trust the person at the other end of that scalpel. We trust the hospital. We trust the system.

Christopher Duntsch was a neurosurgeon who radiated confidence. He claimed he was the best in Dallas. If you had back pain, and had tried everything else, Dr. Duntsch could give you the spine surgery that would take your pain away.

But soon his patients started to experience complications, and the system failed to protect them. Which begs the question: who – or what – is that system meant to protect?

Season 1 is the best (so far).

Fake Doctors, Real Friends with Zach and Donald (iHeartPodcasts)

You know what’s long, tedious and boring? Surgery. You know what isn’t? This new podcast! Join Scrubs co-stars and real-life best friends Zach Braff and Donald Faison for a weekly comedy podcast where they relive the hit TV show, one episode at a time. Each week, these BFFs will discuss an episode of Scrubs, sharing behind-the-scenes stories and reminiscing on some of their favorite memories from filming. They’ll also connect with Scrubs super fans and feature beloved show cast members for exclusive interviews.

Two Medics Podcast

Two completely uninformed medical bozos talk about medic life and the perils of social media.
